IHSS Provider Pay in 2027

Provider pay for 2027 is not set in one place or on one date. The state sets the floor, and each county sets its own rate on top of it. This page lists only what an official state or county page has put in writing so far, and it is updated as counties publish more.

The State Floor Rises on January 1, 2027

California's minimum wage goes from $16.90 to $17.40 an hour on January 1, 2027, under the state's annual cost-of-living adjustment. No county's IHSS provider wage can be lower than the state minimum wage, so $17.40 is the lowest any provider's rate can be from that date.

Why Your County's Rate May Not Move the Same Way

Each county's provider wage is set locally, through an agreement between the county's Public Authority and the union that represents its providers. Many of those agreements set pay as the state minimum wage plus a county supplement, and under an agreement written that way the rate rises when the floor rises. Not every agreement is written that way, and some are being renegotiated right now.

That is why we do not work out 2027 rates ourselves. The rate that counts is the one your county publishes, and where a county has not published one, this page says so.

What Counties Have Published

As of October 7, 2026, 1 county has published a 2027 provider rate, and 5 more have an agreement in writing that states the county supplement. We list a county here only when an official county, Public Authority or state page says it.

The other 52 counties have not published a provider pay rate for 2027. For those counties the only certain figure is the new state minimum wage. Find your county's guide for its current rate and its main IHSS phone line.

What this means for you: if your county is not listed above, nothing official has been published for it yet. That is normal for this time of year. Counties publish new rates through the autumn, and a new rate applies to hours worked on or after its effective date.
How to Check Your Own Rate

Start with your county's guide: each one shows the current rate and its effective date, and has a "Provider pay in 2027" section with whatever that county has published. You can also check the official CDSS county wage rate page, your own pay stub, or call your county's main IHSS line. For how this year's rates came about, see the 2026 wage increase, explained.

Nothing on this page is a prediction. Rates and agreements can change before they take effect, and some agreements make an increase depend on State approval or funding. Confirm with your county before you plan around a figure.
One Thing This Doesn't Affect

If you're a recipient, it's worth knowing directly: your provider's hourly wage does not come out of your personal authorized-hours budget, and a wage increase does not reduce the number of hours you're approved for. The wage is funded through the program itself, separately from your individual hours authorization.
