IHSS Glossary
State Hearing
What it means in California's IHSS program, in plain English.
← All glossary terms
The formal appeal process you can request after receiving a Notice of Action you disagree with. A State Hearing is conducted by an Administrative Law Judge and gives you the opportunity to present evidence — medical records, your own testimony, and supporting documentation — explaining why the county's decision should be changed.
Requesting a hearing before your Notice of Action's effective date preserves your right to Aid Paid Pending.
