Individual Provider Mode (IP)
What it means in California's IHSS program, in plain English.

The most common IHSS service delivery mode, in which the recipient directly hires, supervises, and can dismiss their own provider — including family members or friends. The two alternative modes are Contract Mode (the county contracts with an outside home-care agency) and County Homemaker Mode (the county directly trains and employs providers); recipients choose which mode they prefer.
